Portrait and offer
The KARLA 51 women’s shelter is a low-threshold service for single, homeless women with and without children in emergency situations to provide crisis intervention and minimum existential security.
Our concept is based on the motto “integration instead of exclusion”: the women’s shelter with 55 single rooms at two locations for temporary accommodation and an outpatient café area is open to all women in need – including those with acute alcohol, drug and/or mental health problems.
Homelessness is a hopeless crisis situation for single women with and without children, which they cannot overcome on their own. The women’s life stories are characterized by material, psychological and social hardship.

Café: Monday and Friday: 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The city of Munich stands for an urban society without discrimination with equal opportunities for all. Equal rights are a constitutional principle, but the real implementation of this norm requires cooperation with civil society in addition to a state mandate. In Munich, there are a large number of organizations, institutions and projects that are involved in the task of implementing equal rights for women, men and people of other genders.
With this “Women’s Handbook Munich”, the Equal Opportunities Office for Women of the City of Munich offers an overview and information on where to turn with a specific concern. More information about the Equal Opportunities Office for Women can be found on our homepage.
