Portrait and offer
The DGB is the voice of our trade unions and their many professions in the political arena. As DGB women, we demand a modern women’s and family policy. Our goal is genuine equality between women and men, as enshrined in the German constitution. In the DGB, the eight member unions work together to develop ideas and strategies to achieve our goals. Without female trade unionists, there would be no modern maternity protection or parental allowance. We have demanded the minimum wage and the basic pension. And we still have big plans: Women still take on 50 percent more unpaid care work and earn on average 20 percent less than men. That is why we are committed to ensuring that care work is distributed fairly between women and men and that both are paid equally and fairly. We are fighting for “equal pay for equal work” to become a reality and we are committed to ensuring that all women in our society can live on an equal footing.

The city of Munich stands for an urban society without discrimination with equal opportunities for all. Equal rights are a constitutional principle, but the real implementation of this norm requires cooperation with civil society in addition to a state mandate. In Munich, there are a large number of organizations, institutions and projects that are involved in the task of implementing equal rights for women, men and people of other genders.
With this “Women’s Handbook Munich”, the Equal Opportunities Office for Women of the City of Munich offers an overview and information on where to turn with a specific concern. More information about the Equal Opportunities Office for Women can be found on our homepage.
