The Disability Advisory Council is mandated by the city council to represent the interests of people with disabilities and to advise the city administration. The committee has existed since 1973 and is currently chaired by three elected members. The committee includes representatives of the city council, the ARGE independent welfare associations, the city administration, 56 associations/organizations/institutions for people with disabilities as well as numerous affected and/or committed citizens.
The Disability Advisory Council is not a citizens’ advice center. It represents the interests of people with disabilities in dealings with the city council and the city administration. Eight specialist working groups focus on the following areas: Work, women, leisure & education, mobility, schools, tourism, support services and housing.
