Portrait and offer
The counseling center has existed as an independent service since 1990. From the very beginning, the concept of Frauenhilfe also provided counseling for women affected by partner violence for whom the women’s shelter is not a solution. It is active in the following areas: Safety counseling; psychosocial counseling and group work; legal counseling, especially on the Protection Against Violence Act; counseling for relatives and helpers of abused women; prevention and public relations work. Frauenhilfe is part of the German Parity Welfare Association (DPWV), Bavarian regional association. The service is exclusively for women affected by partner violence; anonymous advice on request; telephone advice and impartial psychosocial advice (short and long-term) by appointment; open consultation hours; legal advice from specialist lawyers; advice for relatives, private and professional supporters; couples’ meetings on request; parental advice in family court proceedings

The city of Munich stands for an urban society without discrimination with equal opportunities for all. Equal rights are a constitutional principle, but the real implementation of this norm requires cooperation with civil society in addition to a state mandate. In Munich, there are a large number of organizations, institutions and projects that are involved in the task of implementing equal rights for women, men and people of other genders.
With this “Women’s Handbook Munich”, the Equal Opportunities Office for Women of the City of Munich offers an overview and information on where to turn with a specific concern. More information about the Equal Opportunities Office for Women can be found on our homepage.
